Made with fresh apples, aromatic cinnamon, and wholesome oats, this bread is a hearty and satisfying treat that is perfect for breakfast or dessert. The applesauce frosting adds a sweet and tangy touch that perfectly complements the warm and spicy flavors of the bread.
Preheat the oven to 375℉. Lightly grease a loaf pan and set aside.
In a medium bowl mix together the dry ingredients: all purpose flour, old fashioned rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs and mix again.
Add the apple sauce, milk and vanilla extract and mix again.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients bowl. Mix until just combined. Let the batter sit for 20 minutes for oats to absorb some moisture.
Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan and sprinkle half of the chopped apples on top.
Pour the remaining batter overtop and sprinkle with the rest of the apples.
Mix the cinnamon sugar topping together in a small bowl and sprinkle overtop of the apples.
Bake the loaf for 50-60 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cover the loaf loosely with foil if you notice that it's starting to brown too much.
Let the loaf sit in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
