This is our 2024 review of the Costco caesar salad. This is an easy grab-and-go dinner salad kit that will feed a family of four. This review will include what the salad tastes like, how to make it, the nutrition facts and calories, the salad price, and more.
Costco Caesar Salad Review
Wondering if Costco’s caesar salad is any good? We were too, so we decided to grab a package of caesar for this week and see if we’d like it or not.
You can find their caesar salad in the prepared foods section of your local Costco store. This should be near the Costco quinoa salad (we reviewed this salad as well). This is usually located close to the refrigerated meats and cheeses in the store.
This salad comes in a large container with all ingredients stored separately. This is a good thing as it will prevent the lettuce from wilting and turning soggy after it’s mixed with the dressing.
Caesar salad is the most classic style of salad there is and it’s also one that most people will eat and enjoy. We are big fans of chicken caesar salads and knew we had to try this easy Costco version to see if we’d like it.
What Does Costco Caesar Salad Taste Like?
The ultimate comforting salad recipe! This salad tastes like a classic caesar salad that you would get at any restaurant.
The salad comes in a large clear plastic container. Inside is a large amount of chopped romaine lettuce, shredded parmesan cheese, two small bags of caesar dressings, two small bags of croutons, and two lemon wedges.
All of the ingredients are separated so that the salad stays nice and fresh until you are ready to serve it.
The salad caesar dressing tastes like any normal caesar salad dressing, and I really love that you can control how much caesar dressing you put on the salad. Some people love their caesar salad drenched in dressing. Others do not. Personally, I have been disappointed at restaurants when they put too much dressing on my caesar salad, so I was really happy that you could control the taste and quantity.
The level of croutons felt a little low. I felt like one more package of croutons would have been better. I also thought it could have used two more lemon wedges. I really love to drizzle fresh lemon juice on top of the salad just before serving and could’ve used a bit more to do that. I thought the amount of shredded parmesan cheese was enough for the amount of lettuce.
How Much Does It Cost?
I bought this caesar salad at a Costco in Canada for $11.99 (Canadian dollars). Pricing is based on the weight. This would convert to about $8.81 USD. The price will vary on the location and may even be cheaper in the USA because things are usually more expensive in Canada (which is unfortunate for us).
I thought this was a bit expensive considering that their quinoa salad is about the same price and has way more good quality ingredients like quinoa which is actually quite expensive to buy. Personally, I wouldn’t buy it again, because of the price. But I will happily buy the quinoa salad again because I think there is way more value there for the same price!
This salad only has romaine lettuce, parmesan, some croutons, and some dressing. I’m not sure why it was priced so high. I think this salad would make about 4 servings if it was paired with something else like burgers, chicken or barbecued steak.
Where Can I Find It In The Store?
You can find this kirkland signature food item in the pre-made meal section that’s near the refrigerated meat and cheese section of your local Costco warehouse. The item number is 11515.
What Are The Caesar Salad Ingredients?
Some of the ingredients are fresh and pretty simple, while others (like the dressing and croutons) contain a lot of ingredients as you can see in the image above. Here’s an overview of the ingredients:
- Lettuce
- Dressing ( Canola oil, Water, Frozen yolk, Garlic, Romano and parmesan cheese, Salt, Vinegar, Concentrated lemon juice, Mustard, Sugar, Anchovy powder [Maltodextrin, Anchovy extract, Salt], Seasoning, Xanthan gum, Citric acid, Sodium Benzoate), Parmesan cheese,
- Croutons (Flour, Whole Wheat flour, Palm oil, Water, Glucose-Fructose, Rye Flour, Salt, Wheat gluten, Caramel, Fancy molasses, Whey powder, Maltodextrin, Caraway, Yeast, Vinegar, Sugar, Garlic Powder, Rye sour, Parsley, Ascorbic Acid, Monocalcium phosphate, Ammonium sulphate, Calcium sulphate)
- Lemon.
The ingredients may vary from location to location so it’s always important to read the package of the one you purchase personally, especially if you have food allergies!
Topping Ideas
This Kirkland signature salad is easy to eat on its own however a few extra ingredients would really take the flavor to the next level. Here’s what I recommend.
- CHEESE – Add cubes of your favorite cheese including cheddar cheese, Monterey jack, or crumbled feta cheese.
- PROTEIN – This would be so easy to add cooked shredded chicken, shrimp, steak bites, or tofu for more protein.
- CROUTONS – Add more croutons for extra crunch.
- NUTS AND SEEDS – Add chopped walnuts or sliced almonds, roasted pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds.
- BACON – Add cooked and crumbled bacon for a salty crunch.
How To Make Costco Caesar Salad Kit
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to assemble this big salad kit. In fact, the whole thing and salad can be tossed together inside the plastic container. This is great if you’re bringing this salad for a picnic or potluck! Here’s how to make it:
- Open the plastic lid and remove the plastic bags of croutons and dressing and the sliced lemons.
- Close the lid and give the salad a quick shake to mix the parmesan with the lettuce.
- Open the container back up. Cut open the croutons and add them to the container. Slice a corner of the salad dressing and pour it on top.
- Close the container lid and give the salad a swish from side to side and a little shake until all ingredients have been mixed around.
- Open the lid and serve straight from the container or scoop it into a salad bowl for a prettier presentation.
Helpful Tip: Adding both salad dressing bags might make this salad too saucy for some people. Try adding one bag first and tasting the salad to see if you like it. You can always add a little bit more if needed.
Can I Store Leftovers?
The Caesar salad seasoning kit will have a best-before date on the label of the package and can be stored in the fridge until that date.
But once you assemble the salad it should be served right away. Lettuce doesn’t stay crispy once it’s tossed with dressing. And the dressing will turn wilted.
What Can You Serve This With?
This is an easy recipe to serve as a side dish with your main meal. Here are a few ideas of what to serve it with:
- CHICKEN – Cook up some marinated chicken in the oven or on the grill, buy a rotisserie chicken from Costco to pair with it, or with chicken wings.
- BEEF – This would be a great summer recipe with a barbecued grilled steak.
- PORK – Our marinated pork chops would be delicious with this.
- BURGERS – Eat alongside grilled burgers or our black bean burgers.
- MASON JAR SALADS – Add this in layers to the base of mason jars and top with protein, cheese and croutons for meal prep lunches throughout the week.
Nutrition Facts
You can always request any nutritional facts through customer service at your local Costco. Here’s the nutrition info for the Costco caesar salad:
There are 650 calories in a 20 oz serving. With 41g fat, 35g carbohydrates, and 40g protein.
That is certainly a lot of calories for a salad! Most of which come from the dressing! If you reduce the number of calories, try using less dressing (you could even water it down to help use less and spread it out more).

Our Review
We enjoyed this salad but probably wouldn’t buy it again. We’ve given it a rating of 5/10.
We thought it was pretty tasty and ate the whole thing in one meal. However, because of its high-calorie amount, I personally won’t be eating this every week.
Also, this is the same price compared to the Costco quinoa salad. With that salad, you get a lot more vegetables and fresh ingredients. I would rather choose the quinoa salad over this one.
