Ground Turkey Sweet Potato Skillet Overview

I don’t know about you, but I’m a big fan of a dinner recipe that’s easy to make and budget-friendly – and this one checks all the boxes. Made with just five main ingredients you can find at any grocery store including ground turkey, sweet potato, spices, onion, and mozzarella cheese.

First, the sweet potato is chopped and cooked in a frying pan. Next, the onions, garlic, and the ground turkey. After that, all ingredients are combined with the spices and topped with melted mozzarella cheese. From start to finish, this recipe can be on your family’s plates in under 30 minutes!

Recipe Tips

  • You’ll need 1 lb of ground turkey for this recipe. You can also use ground beef, pork or ground chicken.
  • Cut the sweet potato into small cubes. The smaller they are, the faster they will cook.
  • Any kind of cheese will work here. Feel free to swap the mozzarella with cheddar cheese, marble cheese, monterey jack cheese, parmesan or feta.
  • The cheese might not melt easily – If needed, just add a lid or plate to the top of the frying pan (removed from heat) for 1-2 minutes. It should easily melt then.

How To Store Leftovers

  • To Refrigerate – The leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • To Reheat – Reheat in a pan on the stove or the microwave until warmed through.
