Air Fryer Green Beans

These are so simple and easy to make, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do this sooner! Green beans are perfect as a simple side dish on busy weeknights and you can easily flavor them with spices and some parmesan cheese.

Green beans are one of my daughter’s favorites so we make them often. Normally, I tend to boil our green beans for a fast side dish. But those can get a little boring after a while. It’s nice to switch things up with the air fryer!

You can pair these green beans with almost any dinner like our popular air fryer chicken drumsticks.

Recipe ingredients including bowl of fresh green beans, small bowls of olive oil, grated parmesan cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Recipe Ingredients

NOTE: I love to sprinkle freshly grated parmesan cheese on my roasted veggies because it adds so much flavor. This part is optional but worth it.

How To Make Air Fryer Green Beans

Full ingredients and instructions are also in the recipe card at the bottom of this blog post.

STEP 1: Wash the green beans and trim off the ends if needed. Pat them dry with paper towel.

STEP 2: Add the green beans to a large bowl. Drizzle the 3 Tbsp olive oil over top. Add the 2 Tbsp freshly grated parmesan cheese (if using, it’s optional). Sprinkle the ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, ½ tsp ground black pepper and ¼ tsp salt. Toss the green beans together with all the seasonings so that they are evenly coated.

STEP 3: Preheat the air fryer at 350°F for 2-4 minutes. Add in the green beans. Use a spatula to scrape along the side of the bowl to get all the oil, parmesan and spices as well. Spread the green beans into an even layer.

STEP FOUR: Cook for 14 minutes, tossing and shaking the basket with green beans halfway through the process. The edges will start to turn golden brown and the parmesan cheese will crispen up during the process.

Recipe Tips

  • When you’re at the grocery store, look for green beans that appear fresh without any dark spots on the outside. The beans should look strong and not soft or wilted.
  • Parmesan cheese is optional! I highly recommend using freshly grated parmesan cheese as it adds flavor and these perfect little crispy bits that taste wonderful when served with the veggies!
  • Preheat the air fryer first. This helps to get the best even cooking results.
  • Pat the green beans dry with a towel after washing to remove any excess moisture.
  • Always toss the green beans halfway through.
  • Check the beans in the last couple of minutes to make sure they’re not overcooking. Every air fryer is different so it might take more time or less time to cook your green beans. It can take a little bit of practice to get used to your specific air fryer temperature and how it works.

How To Store Leftovers

  • Refrigerate – These green beans can be stored in an air-tight container or bag in the fridge for up to 3 days. They will naturally gain a bit of sogginess as they’re stored in the fridge, but will still taste great!
  • To Reheat – Green beans can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-10 minutes until they’re heated through and begin to crispen a little on the edges. You can also reheat these in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
