Mango ice cream is an easy healthy way to enjoy ice cream at home without the added sugar and unwanted fillers. This homemade recipe is made with two simple ingredients and a blender. It’s a family favorite in our house that I think you’re gonna love.
Mango Ice Cream With No Added Sugar
Today I’m sharing our favorite way to enjoy healthy ice cream without any refined sugar or other fillers.
Mangoes lend themselves perfectly to creating a smooth, creamy frozen treat. This isn’t the case for every fruit, but mangos create the perfect ice cream magic. It’s beautifully sweetened and brightly colored – all naturally. It’s simple. It’s easy. It’s doable.
So if you’re looking for a healthier alternative to regular ice cream. One that has NO SUGAR, and NO ADDITIVES, then this is it! Instead, it’s made with simple healthy ingredients that you’ll feel really good serving to your family.
What You Will Need To Make Mango Ice Cream
Ready for the easiest treat recipe you’ll ever make? You only need three things:
- Frozen Mango Chunks – Look for a bag of frozen mango chunks. These work the best.
- Milk of Your Choice – You can use any kind of milk that you like for this recipe. Dairy, or non-dairy including oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, etc will all work.
- A Blender – You’ll need a blender. High-speed blenders work the best. But it can still be done in other blenders with a little patience.
How To Make Make Mango Ice Cream
This mango ice cream is sooo easy to make which is probably why I love it so much. It’s done in two easy steps:
- Blend – First, add the frozen mango and milk to a blender and blend until it turns smooth and creamy.
- Soft Serve – If you like soft serve (my personal fave) then just pour the mango mixture to bowls and serve with a spoon.
- Hard Ice Cream – If you want harder scoops you’ll need to freeze it for longer. Pour the mango mixture into a dish. Place in the freezer for 4-6 hours, or overnight to fully harden. When ready to serve, let sit on the counter for 10-15 minutes to thaw, then use an ice cream scoop to dish into bowls to serve.
Note: If You’re Having Trouble Blending – High-speed blenders (like a Vitamix) truly make healthy eating and kitchen prep a breeze, but they’re also an investment. I get it. If you don’t have a high-speed blender then making this recipe won’t be as easy to blend. You might have to stop the blender a few times and mix by hand to help it along, and work in smaller batches.
Alternatively, if you have a food processor, this can also work. Add the mango to the food processor first and let it break the mango down into smaller chunks. Now you can pour the milk into the processor and let it mix on high until it’s smooth a creamy. This may take a minute or two before it’s blended.
I’ve tried both methods and I find that the high-speed blender tends to make the creamiest, smoothest version.
