If you like easy desserts that can be assembled in under 10 minutes, then you’ll love this one!
Strawberry angel food dessert is an easy treat made with angel food cake, Jell-O, and sliced fresh strawberries.

Easy 4-Ingredient Dessert
Everyone loves a fresh strawberry dessert but when I have to feed a crowd, this recipe is a wonderful option! Not only is it delicious, but it’s also made ahead of time for an easy potluck dessert.
- Strawberry Jell-O is combined with Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, chunks of store-bought angel food cake and fresh strawberries.
- It’s an easy dessert to serve to a large crowd.
- It’s fast to put together, budget-friendly and kids love this one!

Recipe Ingredients
JELL-O: Grab a box of strawberry jello from the store. You can use regular or sugar-free version which is usually sweetened with stevia. Any brand of jello will work, as long as it’s strawberry flavored.
CAKE: To save time, this recipe uses a store-bought angel food cake. I had to go to 2 grocery stores to find one. They’re usually located in the bakery. You’ll need half of a large cake, or one full 8″ angel food cake which equals about 7 cups when ripped into chunks.
We’re big angel food cake fans over here. Recently I made chocolate angel food cake and I think it’s my new favorite!
WHIPPED TOPPING: You’ll find the whipped topping in the freezer section near pie crusts. Most grocery stores have Cool Whip whipped topping. Some have their own store brand versions.
STRAWBERRIES: I used fresh strawberries, but you can also use frozen. Just thaw and drain them first to remove excess liquid.

How To Make Strawberry Angel Food Dessert
This dessert comes together in two steps.
- Prep the Jell-O and add in sliced strawberries. Chill until almost set.
- Add the whipped topping according to the recipe instructions below.
- Rip up the angel food cake, stir into the dessert. Pour into a large dish and refrigerate until set.
- Serve and enjoy!

Recipe Tips
- Let whipped topping thaw overnight in the fridge before using. It will produce a creamier consistency that’s easier to work with.
- Use a store-bought angel food cake for this recipe. It’s just not worth the time to make one. The cake will be soaked in the dessert mixture and all the hard work to make one will be lost.
- Use fresh strawberries if possible. They will create better results. However, if they’re out of season and too expensive, then frozen ones will also work.
- Angel food cake should be ripped into large chunks, not small bite-size pieces. The chunks will shrink down as they absorb the dessert liquid and create the perfect consistency for this style of dessert.
- For best results, let the dessert chill in the fridge for a minimum 2 hours before serving. You can also make this recipe the night before your plan to serve.
- Save a few fresh strawberries to add to the top of the dessert for a beautiful presentation.
