YELLOW BEANS: 1 lb of fresh yellow wax beans is used for this recipe. I grabbed a bag from my local farmers market. These are also available at the grocery store when they're in season. The ends should be trimmed before cooking with kitchen scissors or a knife.
FLAVOR: The flavors are kept really simple with a bit of butter, some olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper. These ingredients enhance the flavor of the yellow beans.
How To Cook Yellow Beans On The Stove
This is our favorite way to cook yellow beans because they get a little crispy. Here's a quick overview of how to make them with full instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Heat butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add trimmed yellow beans and minced garlic. Sautee until tender and golden brown on the edges.

Ingredients
- 1 lb yellow beans - with edges trimmed
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves - minced
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- Snip the edges off of the yellow beans using kitchen scissors or a knife.
- Heat the butter and oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the yellow beans and cook until tender when poked with a fork. This will take about 3-5 minutes. Stir occasionnally during the process.
- Sprinkle the salt and pepper overtop in the last minute of cooking and stir together.
- Once beans are done, scoop onto a serving dish. Add all the crispy bits on the bottom of the pan (those are the best part). Serve and enjoy!
