Recipe Ingredients

CAKE MIX BOX: To keep things easy, this recipe uses a boxed cake mix. You can use any style of cake mix, I used Betty Crocker’s devil’s food cake mix. White, chocolate, strawberry or any other flavors will all work. And depending on the brand and cake mix you use, the ingredient additions (eggs, milk, butter) might vary.

CAKE ADDITIONS: For this recipe, I used milk, melted butter, and eggs to make the cake. You can follow the instructions on the back of your cake mix box to make the cake as this will give the best results.

TOPPINGS: The toppings are the star of the show here! Mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and confetti sprinkles are added to the top of the cake to give the perfect celebratory effect. Feel free to switch up the toppings. Chopped nuts, crushed pretzels, and M&Ms would all be great additions.

How To Make Sprinkle Marshmallow Cake Bars

This recipe is easy peasy and the perfect dump-and-go style dessert:

  1. Add cake mix and other ingredients according to the boxed cake mix instructions.
  2. Bake the cake until set.
  3. Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and sprinkles according to the full recipe instructions below.
  4. Place back in the oven until marshmallows and begin to melt for about 2-3 minutes.

Recipe Tips

  • Follow the boxed cake mix instructions for the best results. Each cake box will vary in ingredients and cooking times.
  • Once you add the toppings, keep an eye on them in the oven. As soon as they begin to melt you can remove the cake. Keeping it in the oven too long can result in an overbaked cake.
  • Feel free to change up the toppings! Chopped nuts, crushed pretzels, candies, gummy worms, and M&Ms are all fun additions that kids will love. (Add the gummies after the cake is out of the oven so that they won’t melt).
  • The cake needs to be chilled completely before slicing, otherwise, the chocolate chips won’t keep their shape.
  • Slice the bars in advance before serving for an easy grab-and-eat style dessert.
