Costco Caesar Salad Review
Wondering if Costco's Caesar salad is any good? We were too, so we picked one up to see how it holds up for real meals.
You'll find this salad in the prepared foods section of Costco, usually near refrigerated meats and cheeses. It's often stocked close to the Costco quinoa salad, which we've also reviewed.
The salad comes in a large container with all ingredients stored separately, which helps prevent the lettuce from wilting or getting soggy before serving.

What Does Costco Caesar Salad Taste Like?
This is a classic, restaurant-style Caesar salad.
Here's what you get inside the container:
- Chopped romaine lettuce
- Shredded parmesan cheese
- Two packets of Caesar dressing
- Two packets of croutons
- Two lemon wedges
Because everything is packaged separately, the salad stays fresh and crisp until you're ready to mix it.
The Caesar dressing tastes like a standard, familiar Caesar. Nothing overly fishy or overpowering. I really liked being able to control how much dressing went into the salad, which isn't always possible at restaurants.
A few honest notes:
- The crouton amount felt a bit low
- I would've liked one extra lemon wedge
- The parmesan amount felt just right
Overall, it tastes exactly like a Caesar salad you'd expect, simple and crowd-friendly.

How Much Does It Cost?
I originally bought this Caesar salad at a Costco in Canada for $11.99 CAD (about $8.81 USD) in 2023, but now it costs $13.31. Pricing is weight-based and varies by location.
For value, this felt a bit expensive for what's included. Compared to the Costco quinoa salad, which is similarly priced but includes more varied ingredients, this one didn't feel like the best bang for your buck.
That said, it can easily serve about four people as a side salad when paired with burgers, chicken, or steak.
Realistically, this salad serves 3-4 people as a side, or 2 people as a main with protein added.
Where Can I Find It In The Store?
You'll find this Kirkland Signature salad in the pre-made meal section, near refrigerated meats and cheeses.
Item number: 11515
What Are The Caesar Salad Ingredients?
Some of the ingredients are fresh and pretty simple, while others (like the dressing and croutons) contain a lot of ingredients as you can see in the image above. Here's an overview of the ingredients:
- Lettuce
- Dressing ( Canola oil, Water, Frozen yolk, Garlic, Romano and parmesan cheese, Salt, Vinegar, Concentrated lemon juice, Mustard, Sugar, Anchovy powder [Maltodextrin, Anchovy extract, Salt], Seasoning, Xanthan gum, Citric acid, Sodium Benzoate), Parmesan cheese,
- Croutons (Flour, Whole Wheat flour, Palm oil, Water, Glucose-Fructose, Rye Flour, Salt, Wheat gluten, Caramel, Fancy molasses, Whey powder, Maltodextrin, Caraway, Yeast, Vinegar, Sugar, Garlic Powder, Rye sour, Parsley, Ascorbic Acid, Monocalcium phosphate, Ammonium sulphate, Calcium sulphate)
- Lemon.
The ingredients may vary from location to location so it's always important to read the package of the one you purchase personally, especially if you have food allergies!
How to make Costco Caesar Salad taste even better:
This Kirkland signature salad is easy to eat on its own however a few extra ingredients would really take the flavor to the next level. Here's what I recommend.
- Cheese: Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or feta
- Protein: Shredded chicken, shrimp, steak bites, or tofu
- Extra crunch: More croutons
- Nuts & seeds: Walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds
- Bacon: Cooked and crumbled

How To Make Costco Caesar Salad Kit
This kit is very easy to assemble, and you can even toss it right inside the container.
How to make it:
- Remove the croutons, dressing packets, and lemon wedges.
- Close the lid and shake gently to mix the parmesan with the lettuce.
- Add croutons and dressing (start with one packet).
- Close the lid and shake again until combined.
- Serve straight from the container or transfer to a bowl.
Helpful Tip: Adding both salad dressing bags might make this salad too saucy for some people. Try adding one bag first and tasting the salad to see if you like it. You can always add a little bit more if needed.
Can I Store Leftovers?
The unmixed salad kit can be stored in the fridge until the best-before date on the package.
Once dressed, this salad should be eaten immediately. Romaine wilts quickly once mixed with dressing, and leftovers won't stay crisp.
What Can You Serve This With?
This Caesar salad works best as a side dish. Here are easy pairings:
- Chicken: Grilled, baked, rotisserie, or wings
- Beef: Steak or burgers
- Pork: Pork chops or tenderloin
- Meal prep: Layer into mason jars with protein for lunches

Nutrition Facts
You can always request any nutritional facts through customer service at your local Costco. Here's the nutrition info for the Costco caesar salad:
There are 650 calories in a 20 oz serving. With 41g fat, 35g carbohydrates, and 40g protein.
That is certainly a lot of calories for a salad! Most of which come from the dressing! If you reduce the number of calories, try using less dressing (you could even water it down to help use less and spread it out more).

The salad comes with two small bags of garlic caesar dressing. You can control how much or how little of the dressing you want to add to the salad.

Final Verdict: Would We Buy It Again?
We enjoyed this salad but probably wouldn't buy it again. We've given it a rating of 5/10.
We thought it was pretty tasty and ate the whole thing in one meal. However, because of its high-calorie amount, I personally won't be eating this every week.
Also, this is the same price compared to the Costco quinoa salad. With that salad, you get a lot more vegetables and fresh ingredients. I would rather choose the quinoa salad over this one.

Ingredients
- 1 Costco caesar salad kit
- Any desired toppings - see notes
Instructions
- Open the lid from the plastic container. Remove the small bags of croutons, small bags of caesar dressing and the lemon wedges.
- Cut open the crouton bags with a pair of scissors. Add them to the salad container. Slice open 1-2 of the dressing bags and spread it overtop of the salad. Close the lid and give the salad a swish back and forth until all the ingredients are mixed.
- Open the lid and give it a light toss if needed.
- Pour into a large salad bowl to serve and enjoy!
Notes
- The Caesar salad seasoning kit will have a best-before date on the label of the package and can be stored in the fridge until that date.
- But once you assemble the salad it should be served right away. Lettuce doesn't stay crispy once it's tossed with dressing. And the dressing will turn wilted.
- CHEESE - Add cubes of your favorite cheese including cheddar cheese, Monterey jack, or crumbled feta cheese.
- PROTEIN - This would be so easy to add cooked shredded chicken, shrimp, steak bites, or tofu for more protein.
- CROUTONS - Add more croutons for extra crunch.
- NUTS AND SEEDS - Add chopped walnuts or sliced almonds, roasted pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds.
- BACON - Add cooked and crumbled bacon for a salty crunch.

When do you squeeze the lemon? When you add the dressing or after the final toss ? I don’t see that step.

You could do either!
